Attakkalari’s summer workshops are back! The workshops have been customized by age - Juniors (5-8 years), Seniors (9-12 years) and Teens (13-19 years). All the modules are conceived by Kayleigh Anne Crook and facilitated by her along with members of the Attakkalari Repertory Company. The workshops conclude with a presentation for friends and family!
Dates & Timings: April 23rd to May 5th
Juniors & Seniors: 9:30am – 12:30pm | Teens: 2pm - 5pm

Kentaro!! at Attakkalari
|
|
In partnership with the Japan Foundation, Attakkalari is delighted to host Kentaro!! in Bengaluru. Kentaro!! is one of the most promising young contemporary dancers in Japan. His dance interpretation originates from hip-hop, fused with contemporary dance, and drama.
He will be conducting an open workshop on Thursday, March 22nd from 4pm to 8pm and performing his piece After Raining, it will be Sunny on Saturday, March 24th at 6pm at Attakkalari.

Building Partnerships

Jayachandran Palazhy, Attakkalari’s Artistic Director has been invited to attend Building Partnerships, a workshop on Fulbright-Nehru & other Fulbright Fellowships, organized by USIEF (United States-India Educational Foundation) with support from the Public Affairs Section, American Embassy, New Delhi.
The workshop aims to facilitate closer links with Indian institutions to strengthen participation in the Fulbright program. The workshop will be held at Trivandrum on April 19th and 20th. |

Bang Bang: Performance Graffiti

As part of the Urban Avantgarde project presented by Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore, Attakkalari collaborated with renowned choreographer Samir Akika. Akika, Nora Ronge (movement) and Rasmus Nordholt (music), together with Attakkalari Repertory dancers developed Bang Bang, performance fragments offering unusual perspectives on urban experiences.
The performances were held at the Attakkalari Studios and the BMTC Malleswaram Bus Stand on February 24th and 25th.

Ronita Mookerji, a member of the Attakkalari Repertory Company was selected for the DANCE BOX residency "Kobe‐Maizuru Exchange Programme". The program is implemented in cooperation with Art Theater dB KOBE, Studio dB Kobe, Studio dB Kobeloft and Mizuru RB (Yashima Art Port). Ronita created a piece as part of her residency which was presented at Maizuru RB (Yashima Art Port) and Art Theater dB KOBE. She was also invited to showcase her short choreographic piece as part of the "Love Songs in Kobe" on February 17th at the Kobe-Asia Contemporary Dance Festival. |

India Theatre Forum

Jayachandran Palazhy was invited to a national seminar Spaces for Theatre, Spaces of Theatre organised by the India Theatre Forum. The seminar was organized in an effort to contextualise, historicise and problematise the processes and practices of theatre in India. It was held from March 14th to 18th at Ninasam, Heggodu - an extremely special theatre institution in Karnataka which has served as a community centre for over 50 years. The seminar brought together theatre practitioners, scholars, critics, architects, designers, urban planners, social scientists and scientists. |

Jayachandran Palazhy was invited to the Tokyo Performing Arts Market (TPAM) in Yokohama, Japan. The Tokyo Performing Arts Market is an international platform for performing arts. This years TPAM held discussions and presentations for the improvement and development of activities in the performing arts sector. The platform also hosted a performance section of works that are responsive to contemporary reality. The event was scheduled from February 13th to 22nd. |
